Fair Week

Despite all it's faults, I love the fair. Where else can you spend $30 in two hours and come home with nothing but a stomach ache? I have to go everyday (and not just because it's too close that I can't lie to my sisters and tell them it's closed). It just pulls me...I don't know why. Our 4-H fair has got to be the Official Worst Fair Ever. I'm sure there must be a World Record for that and this county would definitely hold the record.
Maybe it's the cotton candy. Maybe it's the elephant ears. It could be the $1 a cup ice cream that the Lion's sell. It's definitely not the rides. There are only three rides this year, and let me tell you, they can't get much lamer. I thought last year was bad...this year is by far the worst. Everything is inflatable and expensive.
Maybe it's just the social aspect of it. In times past everybody and their grandma went to the fair. Now that it has dwindled down, you don't see quite as many people, but you still get to see people you haven't seen in ages. I have some cousins that I only see once a year. At the fair. Only time I see them. My neighbors...(now this one's kind of sad. They live 500 feet away!) I only see them at the fair.
I talked to Tammy S. last night. I hadn't seen her in ages. Mom doesn't really talk to her anymore since she "came out." She and her girlfriend or whatever had some kind of marriage ceremony thing a couple years ago and shocked the whole town. I don't think that's any reason to shun someone. Just because they're gay doesn't mean they are totally evil. I don't agree with it, but I'm not going to hate them because of it. That's just wrong.
Anyway, Tammy and my parents used to be really good friends ages and ages ago. First they were friends with her sister Cindy. We all used to hang out. Cindy and Mike used to have big parties out at their place all the time. They have a daughter about 5 years older than me, Brandy. She was awesome. I practically worshipped her. Tammy's daughter, Casey, was really cool, too. She is three years older than me, I think. They always played with me and treated me like one of them, except when I was being a brat, then they'd put me in my place. I used to spend solid weeks at their houses. Those were the good old days.
Anyway, Tammy said that Casey is 24 now. She is living in Los Angeles. She has been in three movies bought by HBO and she works in this really fancy night club, Roxy, or something like that, where celebrities often go. Tammy said Casey took her out there once and she said,"Talk about an Indiana girl feeling out of place...!" I bet! Man. L.A. Night clubs...celebrities...how cool!
