School is in Session

I got my first lesson yesterday! Yay! I have to write an autobiographical letter to my instructor. I have to tell her about my interests, background, things I have had published, etc. Well, I did get that one poem published, but I don't think it counts. It was obviously a scam. I mean, my poem was on the first page of the book, for one thing. Oh well.
I'm excited, but also kind of freaked out because I don't know if I'll be able to stick with it and do a good job. I'm kind of nervous, but I'm sure I'll do fine.

Bogus Aptitude Test

I did this today cuz I was bored. Don't worry. I didn't send it in. But wouldn't it have been funny if I did?

General Information About You:*Name: Mrs. Jospeh Dunsworth
378879024 Happy St. ,Johnsonpop, Texas
*Education: Some High School High
*Your Occupation: cat-licker/dog-biter

Part 1
A young person would not use the formal style and the same vocabulary as an adult might, when speaking. Answer the questions as you imagine a young person would, and give each imaginary speaker an age.

Question: What kinds of books do you like best?
Age: 7
I like books that smell good. Lemon-scented, especially. I lick them all the time. Mommy won't take me to the library anymore because she said that I will get a disease from licking books and die.

Question: If you could be any animal, what kind would you be?Age: 4
I would be a walrus because they are very big and they look freaky. I would also want to be a hotdog. Because I really like hotdogs. I eat them for breakfast every day. I never even have to cook them because they smell bad when you burn them.

Part 2
Show us your feeling for words. By filling in the blanks in the paragraph below with your own word choices, you can make it sound like almost anything you want. You might treat it as a mystery or a nature story, happy or sad, for adults or children, all based simply on the words you choose. There is no "correct" answer to this section; we are simply interested in seeing how you choose to handle it.
Johnny gazed across the purple giraffe waters of the trembling sea now in the dark glowy evening sunshine. He searched the shorelines for sight of the lovely little duck's canoe, hoping to see it glide into view before the sun set behind the great big ugly forest. He could hear his stupid sister in the kitchen of the house over there.

Part 3
In a brief paragraph, tell us why you are interested in writing. How long have you had this interest?
I am interested in writing because I like to write and I think that I would be an awesome writer. Yes, indeedy! I smell good, too. Except when I forget to bathe or neglect to change my Depends, but you don't have to worry about that, because I never leave my attic. I live up there with my 11 cats and 12 goldfish and 7 rats and the 3 dead children I stole from the graveyard. They don't smell too fresh, but we have a jolly time, anyway. They are my main inspiration. I call them A, B, and (you'll never guess this one) Q. Thank you for your time. I do so hope that you will accept me into your gracious arms and nurture my abilities so that I will be able to afford to send A, B, and Q off to college in Swiss Man's Dead Arm's Town.

Part 4
In about 250 to 500 words, tell us about an experience from your childhood. It can be important, or amusing, or anything you feel might be interesting. If you do not wish to write about your childhood, write about anything you think would be of interest to a young reader. (No poetry, please.)
We will be looking for originality, style, and your aptitude for conveying ideas. Perfect grammar and punctuation are not our main concerns at this point.
Suggestion: Outline your idea, and write the first draft on a separate piece of paper, then copy your final draft in the space provided.

Finally, please give your composition a title.
Title: The Cat That Said Hi
Once when I was a kid. I had a cat. The cat said hi to me. That was very memorable. I grabbed the cat, swung it by it's tail and it said,"Ouch." So I didn't do that ever again. The End.

Oh geez. I crack myself up sometimes.

Writing, writing, writing

Remember that writing course that I wanted to take? I passed the aptitude test and they've been sending me stuff like every week,"Are you gonna register, or what?" so I have decided that I'm going to do it. I already have an idea for my first story, but I'm not gonna tell. Now I'm moving one step closer to my dream. I'm so excited!

Some Wounds Never Heal

Just when I thought I had forgotten her and felt like I was able to move on from that chapter of my life she appeared. I wonder why she came to the library. The girl's got guts, I'll giver her that. When she came in Saturday the look on my face was one of total shock. The look on her face was one of fear (ironically, it's the same one she uses around my mom). Her face seemed to ask,"Is it all right that I'm here?" It also kind of said,"I really don't care if it's all right or not." Well, it is a PUBLIC library and I have no business saying who can enter the doors and who can't, but why on earth would she come at a time when she knew I'd be there? She had two kids on each hand. I guess that was supposed to be her excuse for coming in: to get books for the kids. Her dad keeps me informed (yeah, like I really care) about the goings on of their family and they're having a bunch of company right now.
She came up to me to check out when she could've easily gone to someone else. "Hi," she said.
"Hi. How's school?" I tried not to smile. I tried to be cold and unfriendly. I couldn't do it.
"It's okay. I brought home my roommate from [I can't remember where she's from now, some other country]"
"Yeah, your dad told me you were gonna have a house full."
That was pretty much the extent of our conversation. We both said,"Bye," and that was it. After she left I grabbed a handful of books and headed off to the stacks and cried.
I hate it so much. It hurts. I want to be friends again. I want everything to be the same. I miss her SO much. She was the best friend I've ever had. Why does it have to be like this?

Greatness

Yesterday was the best Saturday ever! It was so great. I woke up early even though I went to bed late and I felt great. I was so wide awake and full of energy. Linda, Leesa and I took turns shifting nonfiction. I started in the morning to burn off some energy, then Leesa started helping me, then I switched with Linda and she continues after lunch. I started again at like 3:00 and got a pleasant surprise a few minutes later. Zach came in and we talked as I shifted. He helped me, too (unlike Kevin, the doofus, who just stands there drooling the whole time). It was nice. We talked about all kinds of stuff-church, music, comic books, superheroes...I was surprised that we managed to keep a conversation going the whole time, as neither one of us are big talkers. Before I knew it Linda was making the closing announcement. I got a lot done, so I wasn't just standing there talking the whole time. I started in the 747's and made it clear down to the 690's, so that was like a lot of work. I felt bad for talking so long, but everyone said it was okay, since I was working the whole time. Josh was like,"Did you have fun talking to your boyfriend?"
"NOT my boyfriend," I told him.
"...yet..." he said. I didn't say anything. "I'm gonna tell Brenda!" he threatened.
"No! You wouldn't! It's bad enough I have Becky on my back!"
"Becky? Is he...Oh, he's Becky's son, isn't he?"
"NO!" Great. Now everyone will know. I will have no more peace at the library. Gr. Oh well. It's not like he's my boyfriend or anything. We're just friends. He was okay with that, too, when I told him I just wanted to be friends. We're gonna go out with some of his friends next weekend, I think.
Groovy Josh is awesome. He's been coming in regularly and talking to me. He figured out that I don't have many friends so he told me I could talk to him whenever I wanted. He's cool. He totally wants me, though. SO not gonna happen.
Anyway, yesterday was great. It would've been great even if Zach hadn't come in. I can't say too many good things about Saturdays, usually, but I hope every Saturday will be this great. If only...

Alone time

I'm at work early today because Dad had to drop me off early. This is the first time I have ever been alone in the library for more than five minutes. It's kind of cool. It could be creepy, I guess, but I find that it's more peaceful than anything. Today will probably be dreadfully boring, but at least it's had a good start.

Thanksgiving

Yesterday was nice.
I'm thankful that my aunt Crissy got to come out. I'm pissed that Airon didn't get to come because of his stupid dad.
I'm thankful that everyone was nice to each other yesterday.
I'm thankful that Mom is feeling better.
I'm thankful for my sisters.
I'm thankful for my kitten. I'm pissed that he wakes me up at 2 A.M.
I'm thankful for Groovy Josh.
I'm thankful for new friends.
I'm thankful for old friends.
I'm thankful for my job.
I'm thankful for being blessed with a nice ass. *smiles*
I'm thankful for Bethany.
I'm thankful for summertime.
I'm thankful for Mary and that she's back to work now.
I'm thankful for letters in my mailbox.
I'm thankful for Becky.
I'm thankful for Trent (this cute little boy that comes in here sometimes. He has the biggest, sweetest smile and he makes me smile).
I'm thankful for Celeste being here today so Kevin wanted to talk to her instead of me (by the way, I think I made him mad tonight. Hee hee! He was being really negative and I said I didn't want to talk to him anymore, so he left.)
I'm thankful that Celeste is getting married soon so now Kevin knows he doesn't have a chance.
I'm thankful for lots of stuff.
Okay, bye.
